German Riding Pony Stallions

Stonfield Sport Ponies

Movado - German Riding Pony Stallion (RPSI) - 149cm, BayMovado (Fiero) is an enjoyable addition to the farm and will hopefully join the breeding program in 2016.

The offspring of two imported German Riding Ponies, he exhibits all the great characteristics of that breed, including three lovely gaits, with nice suspension for a sport pony, and an exceptionally kind and willing temperament. As with many of the Riding Ponies, he blends horse and pony genes, striving for the perfect blend of more horse-like movement with pony characteristics maintained. His dam, Chianti, is a States Premium mare, having produced all premium foals before Movado, with Movado’s full sister also being one of the highest scoring mares for her RPSI mare inspection. Chianti`s sire, Kiribati, is full brother to Kennedy, RCH of the Weser-Ems stallion licensing in 1999 and RCH of the German Riding Pony Stallion show in 2003, where he was also awarded the distinction of earning a perfect 10.0 for rideability. Both Grace Kelly and Kaiserjager are considered foundation stock for the German Riding Ponies, with Grace Kelly having produced three licensed stallions, and Kaiserjager having produced at least 20 licensed stallions.

Movado`s sire, Makuba, too, is known for his fabulous temperament, having scored a 10.0 for temperament during his 100 day stallion testing. One of the first GRP stallions imported into the US, he has sired several youngsters in Germany and the US that have gone onto success in dressage, eventing, hunters/jumpers and driving. Makuba himself competed successfully up through Intermediate in dressage. Crossing well with horses and ponies, he has produced several licensed stallions, year-end award winners, and excellent breeding stock.A bright bay with plenty of chrome to scrub, Fiero is expected to finish as an "X-Large" pony, right around 15 hands. Fiero earned the distinction of being the highest scoring foal (horses and ponies) of the 2012 RPSI inspection tour, as well as being named a stallion prospect. He was lightly shown in-hand in 2013 & 2014 to get acclimated with the show atmosphere, exhibiting nice improvement throughout each season. Typically earning scores in the 70`s, Fiero was ranked #1 in his age/gender division for RPSI USDF All-Breed Awards for DSHB in 2013 and 2014. Lightly started under saddle as a 3-year-old for a read on rideability prior to provisional licensing, he’s not disappointed, proving to be very rideable and fun to work with. He’s also seeming to take to jumping quite well, with a willing attitude, calm demeanor and nice form over fences

It’s nice to see the kids be successful in their pursuits. Movado has been working diligently toward earning his provisional breeding license for the past two years. As of August, 2015, he passed his first stallion test and is now approved into Stallion Book I with the Rheinland Pfalz-Sarr International (RPSI) registry, where he is also registered/branded. Having noted he really likes to jump with the start of his free-jump schooling this year, it was fun to see that as his high score of 8.5. With an 8.0 for type as well as breed & type, we’re pretty happy with the boy
